Brazilian sugar importers seek, among other qualities, Icumsa 45 sugar, the English acronym Icumsa (International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis) determines the purity and degree of whiteness, the greater the number linked to Icumsa, the less refined. For example, brown sugar, known on the market as brown sugar, is rated Icumsa 800 to 1600.
